Well said, i feel and know your frustration. I find it absolutely ridiculous how some fan go around calling the character of Kat a slut. And for what reason….all because her friendship with Tommy developed into a relationship. Hell (like mentioned) after the Tomberly break, she didn’t all of sudden jump at the chance to be with him. She set the man up on a date with another women. Yeah that’s a real slut for you right there I guess
I personally find it hilarious that some will go around calling Kat a slut. But when that same method of name calling is turned around and someone says Kimberly was a bitch for not having the balls to call Tommy and break up with him (instead of that letter) the same people get defensive and say that letter was out of character. And saying Kat is a slut isn’t out of character?

- Fandom: Power Rangers
- Reason for Being Hated: Marty Stu, overpowered, overused, “stole Jason’s leadership”, “stole” Kimberly from Jason, always had to be the leader or get the girl.
Had a feeling this post was coming soon. And of course some of you know I’m going to defend this character (the guy was my first ever childhood crush LOL)
-Marty Stu: Yeah I’ll admit Tommy was a bit of a Marty Stu in my opinion during his time on MMPR as the white ranger (annoyingly perfect, good at everything) and came off as that sometimes during zeo and the turbo movie. But during most of the series (especially in the beginning) he was written as a person with flaws and was still learning who he was.
-Over powered, overused:Honestly this was mostly on the writers and Saban’s doing. The character Tommy was only suppose to last during the first season of the show. But they noticed how popular his character was and how much he was bringing the PR franchise. Some may bee the character as seeing the character being over used with him being in 6 seasons of the show, but it was a money maker.
-Stole jason’s leadership: This one is annoys me as much as the “Katherine stole Kimberly’s place” argument. There was no stealing. The actor who played Jason was ready to leave the show and the writers decided to to make Tommy the leader before the episode that introduced the characters of Rocky, Aisha, and Adam. I guess it would have made scene to make someone the leader who had experience as a ranger (which rocky didn’t have…no offense rocky fans).
-stole” Kimberly from Jason: Yeah i’m going to make this as brief as possible. Despite some flirtation (that i noticed) between the who. No one stole Kimberly. She wasn’t with anyone, she wasn’t dating anyone, so there was no steal. Could she have been with Jason, yeah she could of. There was definitely chemistry between the two, but she fell all “head over heals/love at first site with Tommy” and Jason didn’t say or do anything about it.
-always had to be the leader or get the girl: I’ll say it again, the character Tommy was a big money maker for the PR franchise, so the writers wrote him that way. As for the character himself, yeah he may have been the leaders in 3 season, but he wasn’t always taking over. The other rangers had their episodes and turns for be leader. As for the the “get the girl”, he only dated three girls on the show. Two of them dumped him (one threw a letter and the other left during dinner). I don’t really see that as getting the girl. As for Katherine, Tommy didn’t automatically win her over. They started out as friend and it grew into something more. If anything more was put into that relationship for it to go from friends to more than friends compared to the tommy/kim relationship just started out with them automatically dating after a few episodes.

One of my earliest childhood ships (before I even knew what shipping was) and still a couple i love together. Even though I no longer watch the show (maybe a tumblr post here and there, a youtube clip once in a while), anytime i see someone on tumblr go off on how Katherine is a “man stealing whore”/wrote “the letter” and Tommy and Kimberly are 1,000x better; that’s when I chime in.
I just loved their mature chemistry and how when went from being friends to more than friends. Also how they showed you don’t need to be attached to the hip 24/7 or have big PDA scenes that take up the moment to show you’re a couple.
